It was one of those scorching hot June days where you dart from shady spot to shady spot. The heat had been building up over the preceding days and we knew that a thunderstorm was inevitable at some point. Ready for the rain I set out for a day on the banks of Lac Léman.

I met up with the bride at her home on the edge of the vineyards in Lutry as she was getting ready with her mum and sister. M had chosen a pretty pastel palette of pinks and creams which went beautifully with her lacy wedding dress and delicate features. A tidy bedroom with gorgeous light made for some wonderful, minimalist bridal preparation photos completely in keeping with her understated, elegant approach to the whole wedding.

The wedding ceremony took place in the Temple de Lutry with its charming arches and stained glass windows. The family has been a member of the church for a very long time and the sense of community made for an intimate and meaningful ceremony complete with page boy ring bearers. As the ceremony drew to a close the first cracks of thunder echoed around us. Luckily the noise was more impressive than the rain and we were able to squeeze in the family photos while I balanced an umbrella over one shoulder.

It’s always good to have a plan in place for the day and a back up for rain. We had originally planned couple shots on the lakeside in Lutry but with the wet pavements and M’s exquisite dress we opted instead to shoot at the Grand Hôtel du Lac. I adore the blue shutters at the back of the hotel and the soft light made for perfect couple shots while keep the bride and her dress in pristine condition.

As well as its impressive Grand Salle Viennoise the hotel has a smaller room (the salon Vaudaire) which is wonderful for a rainy apéro, although a lot more difficult for me to take candid photos unnoticed! The evening finished with a delicious feast in the Grand Salle Viennoise, always a pleasure to shoot in such a wonderful space, and an English-style wedding cake that was beautifully executed by the catering team – one of the best I’ve seen in Switzerland. A superb day was had by all in spite of the rain.

Because of their work M & A asked me to keep their wedding photos private but here are a few of the wonderful details they had on their wedding day.

M & A chose a full day’s wedding coverage for their Switzerland wedding in Lutry and Vevey. Included with their collection was an engagement shoot which took place in Lutry a few months before the wedding day. After their wedding galleries were ready they selected their favourite images for their ‘thank you’ cards and I put together a draft Storybook wedding album design for their comments.

As well as à la carte pricing for your wedding photography, I offer three main wedding collections in Switzerland or abroad. Include multiple days and locations, add high or full resolution downloads, personally designed ‘thank you’ cards, and the perfect wedding album. For stress-free wedding photography, please get in touch for more information.
