The Swiss summer has not been kind for portrait photography this year. As the thunder storms roll in for days I find myself worrying less about my plants drying out and more about them drowning! In the mountains we often find ourselves stuck between the blue sky above and the rain in the valley, sitting in the cloud. It sounds romantic, sitting among the clouds, in reality it’s wet, really, really wet, all the time. But every now and then the cloud breaks and the landscape appears in fragments, perfect for photographing. I am constantly fascinated by the way I can see different places glowing in the sunshine while hiding under the terrace from the rain; by the colours of the clouds, especially the deep blue of the rain clouds (not photoshop just different colours of light!); by the knowledge that there is always blue sky above (thanks Andy) and that some day soon it will eventually stop raining long enough for me to get sunburnt again.
