Couple Portraits

COUPLE PORTRAITS

THE FIRST LOOK

Many couples now opt for a "First Look", where they choose to see each other before the ceremony. This allows for some really special, relaxed couple portraits while you are both looking your best and can also be extended to allow for close family group shots too. Getting more photographed before the ceremony gives you more time with your guests after and more time to enjoy the party. It is also a moment of calm and quiet together to appreciate your day before celebrating with friends and family. If couple portraits are an important part of your day, or if your wedding ceremony is late in the day or between October and April, do think carefully about a First Look to make the most of your time and the natural light.

A First Look can be set up in a beautiful location so that the moment you see each other for the first time is just as magical as you've always imagined it to be. The first few moments are captured at a distance and I don't interfere until you let me know you are ready.

COUPLE PORTRAITS

During the summer months, the best time for light is about an hour and a half before sunset. This time gives a golden, magical feel to your images. Even if you decide on a First Look, we can always find a few moments at the reception if you would like a couple of early evening shots too.

Just as in your pre-wedding session, your couple portraits will be relaxed and natural. We normally have a lot less time, so if couple portraits are of special importance be sure to allow enough time within daylight hours to get the shots you want. I will pose you to start with and it should be easy to fall back into the things we tried out before. I ask my couples to set aside 30-45 minutes for their couple portraits on the wedding day, but they can be as long as you like. If you want to go to a special location, don't forget to plan for travel. Most importantly these are shots of you and your new husband or wife, so even if it's raining we will be able to get some pictures for you to cherish this special day.
