The Ceremony

The Ceremony

Whether you are having a church, civil or secular ceremony, my approach is to be as discrete as possible. I will only use flash or move forwards during key moments if it's necessary to capture the moment, and if both you and your celebrant are happy that I do so. The ceremony is not about photography and it is my goal to make you forget that I am even there.

For the best results for you and your family, opt for an 'unplugged' wedding ceremony. By asking your friends and family to put their phones, cameras and tablets away during the ceremony, you are asking them to enjoy this special moment with you and be completely involved, such a rarity nowadays. You will be able to share your digital images afterwards and an unplugged ceremony also ensures that there are no other distractions for you during your vows and exchange of rings.

I aim to arrive at the ceremony location at least 30 minutes before the start. This gives me time to set the scene and get ready for your grand entrance. If we plan to take groom shots at this point then we will need an extra 20 minutes. Coverage of the ceremony is candid and discrete. If you would like to make a big exit, just let me know beforehand and I can help you set up for the best impression and best photos.
